Homeschooling

 We love homeschooling!

We are currently in our 13th year of homeschooling.  We've always used Seton Home Study School as our main curriculum. We add things here and there, but Seton is our core curriculum.   Seton Home Study School is a Catholic curriculum and it is very academically challenging.

At the bottom of this page, you will find a few pictures from our years of homeschooling.  Homeschooling is a lifestyle, one that fits our family.  We hope that our children first learn to love God above all else, to love their country and develop a love of learning.

I have written quite a bit about homeschooling, please see the article list on the sidebar.  I hope that our experiences can be helpful to you on your homeschooling journey.

We are members of Homeschool Legal Defense Association (HSLDA). HSLDA is a non-profit advocacy organization established to defend and advance the constitutional right of parents to direct the education of their children and to protect family freedoms. Through annual memberships, HSLDA is tens of thousands of families united in service together, providing a strong voice when and where needed. The HSLDA website contains information about laws in every state of the US and also contains a link to HSLDA in Canada. If you are considering homeschooling or have just begun homeschooling, this website is a must!

Our oldest and youngest boys participate in tackle football through the Homeschool Football League. They play for the Greensboro Panthers. We cannot say enough about this wonderful, Christ centered league. If you are looking for a wonderful Christian football experience, Homeschool Football League is for you. Sean is playing baseball for the FHE Hawks this year.

In a letter to families, Pope John Paul II wrote, "Parents are the first and the most important educators of their own children, and they also possess a fundamental competence in this area; they are educators because they are parents."

We are a Catholic, pro-life homeschooling family.  Our family supports many pro-life organizations, including Priests for Life, Human Life International and Life Decisions International and Triad Students for Life right here in our own community.  We are against Planned Parenthood and its agenda.  Planned Parenthood is the largest abortion provider in the United States and abortion increases a woman's risk of breast cancer by 50-90% (depending on her family history of breast cancer).  We also support Breast Cancer Prevention Institute.  Visit their website to see medical articles and statistics on the abortion-breast cancer link. The Susan G Koman foundation gives money to Planned Parenthood, which is a conflict of interest for a foundation intersted in finding a cure for breast cancer. Why would they support abortion knowing that it is the single most preventable cause of breast cancer?  Our family tries to avoid purchasing any of the products that donate money to the Susan G. Koman foundation because of this very reason.  It is unconscionable that Susan G Koman would support any abortion provider -- espceailly knowing the link between abortion and breast cancer.  It is a medically established fact that abortion inceases one's risk for breast cancer.
