Ireland Art Camp

Tomorrow is the last day of art camp fo rthe boys. Today they made Celtic crosses with clay and we went down to see them....both boys did great. It will be a few weeks before they can pick them up. Ms. P has to fire them, etc. These are the projects they brought home from earlier this week:

Albs

We made the albs today...... we're going to start working on the chasubles in a few weeks. The boys are excited. Joseph asked if he could pretend to offer mass in just the alb until his chasuble is done.

Summer Flowers

These are flowers blooming in our yard.Click to view full-size images. The second picture has a butterfly-- so pretty!

Ice Pops

Summer is fun! Joseph wanted to make lemonade ice pops today. We pulled out our handy dandy bomb pop ice pop mold and made some lemonade. We poured them into the mold and added sticks. Yum yum....do you remember doing this when you were a kid?

Drama Camp

Here is the video of the performance today at Gray Wing Art Studio. If you watch until the end, you'll see some great pictures from the week. Matthew's personality (as well as the other children) really comes out. Cute fairies and all sorts of things....

Fun in the Kitchen Again

Joseph helped me make hot dog buns today. We had a great time. We even pulled out the chili I made several weeks ago for our hot dogs. Yum, yum. I have submitted an article to be published with the recipe we used, etc.... hopefully it will be up soon. The recipe makes the best hamburger and hot dog buns ever.

Garden Experiment, outside projects

This year, the boys tilled the ground and planted the seeds and plants. A true experiment! They don;t exactly like weeding, but we will see what grows. We've got lots of blossoms on the cucumbers and squash....and even have our first tomato growing. One of the yellow ones Joseph picked out this year. (He loves tomatoes and wanted to get Mr. Stripy again this year, but we could not find it, so he settled on yellow), We also have quite a few red tomato plants that we started from seed. I think only one eggplant survived past seedling stage! The corn is growing among the weeds.... and we have a few sunflowers, too. Oh...and watermelon. The blackberries we planted a few years ago are really starting to produce this year! Henry's carrots and his basil can't seem to keep up with Henry's appetite! Henry also likes the oregano. Basil is his favorite along with carrot tops. The boys cleaned up the deck yesterday (for Father's day?) and if you look closely next to the BBQ, you can see the box Joseph built for dad last year all on his own. It is sitting on the ledge next to the grill. Those of you who KNOW us, know what a miracle it is for our deck to look this clean. The boys actually put their bows and arrows in the deck truck along with the marshmallow shooter, water guns and other things we usually trip over. :-) Joseph also picked out new outdoor pillows for the front porch swing. Those of you who know him will understand why. "Are you a fan of delicious flavor?" I suppose they go well enough. They were on sale 50% off, so who really cares, right? Of course, he wanted to show everyone the gelatin American Flag he put up on the window. The picture would not come out from the front, so you'll just have to imagine what it looks like rom the front door.

Math with Dad, etc

Dad likes to do math with the boys. He makes them work problems on the board. Joseph is finished with his school work and was stting on the swing working math puzzles. The other pictures are pictures he took from the swing-- his view from the swing.

Summer is Here

During the summer, the boys do a little bit of reading and writing along with other school work. Not too much. J finished his work for the year. The other two have math to complete. Everyone did well on their CAT testing. J loves to read to Henry, his pet rabbit. The other day, he was reading to Henry on the front porch swing. C just refinished the swing and it looks GREAT!

We've got big plans this summer! M will be taking a drama class next week at the art studio. The following week S&J will be going to the Ireland camp at the studio (similar to Paris week last year). S has piano camp next month, too. We're still trying to make our way to the various parks in the area with hiking trails, too. Tomorrow morning we plan on heading out for a little hike. It has been fun getting to know the area trails.

Angela's Bracelets

Our friend Angela had these bracelets made. Angela had a bone marrow transplant and a liver transplant. You can read Angela's story in her own words in her article titled "Fight Like a Girl". If you would like information on how to get one, please send me an email. The outside says, "Angela's Hugs" with a cross on each side. The inside has John 3:16

We love you Angela!
